Shotgun & Rifle Barrels

Bulldog Barrels machines blanks that undergo drilling, reaming, honing, according to OEM manufacturer specifications. After the blank is machined, some clients will then begin the rifling process in-house. Others will trust the years of experience and skill of Bulldog Barrels for button rifling, cut rifling and hammer forged rifling.

From Drilled Blanks to Rifled Blanks & Complete Barrel Production

Drilling, reaming, honing and lapping are all methods by which we machine blanks and barrels to your exact specifications. Depending on the type of gun you manufacture, you can specify any combination of the four.

Button rifling, cut rifling, and hammer forged rifling are all available at Bulldog Barrels. The hammer forged rifling process is performed on our unique Intraforming, cold hammer forge, equipment. The Intraform machines cold form both nonferrous and ferrous alloy barrel blanks from approximately 1/8” to 5” in diameter.

The process uses a set of four forming dies which pulsate rapidly while revolving around the OD of the barrel blank. The dies which are mounted on cams, pulsate through contact with a series of free wheeling hardened steel rollers located within the machine’s headstock. The cam passes from one roller to the next to produce the pulsating action, and as they rotate the cams never lose contact with the rollers. A sine curve is obtained by constant contact of these rollers which results in a smooth, vibrationless squeezing action. Consequently the barrel blank is being squeezed by the dies more than 1,000 times per minute making noise and vibration a non-issue.

We have the skills and the equipment necessary for high-quality rifling.
